Accessibility Statement
Last updated:
We want the CGM Simulator Platform to be usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies. This statement explains where we stand, what we’ve done, and how to tell us when something isn’t working for you.
1. Conformance status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which describe how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Our public-facing pages — the home page, sign-in and registration, and these information pages — have been evaluated and currently pass automated WCAG 2.1 A and AA checks. We continue to work toward the same standard inside the authenticated application, where some known limitations remain (see below).
2. Measures we take
- Keyboard-operable glucose chart. The interactive chart can be focused and edited entirely from the keyboard — arrow keys move between readings, Up/Down change a value, Space and Shift+arrows select points or a range, and changes are announced to screen readers via a live region.
- Semantic HTML structure with headings, landmarks, and labelled form fields.
- Keyboard support for navigation, links, buttons, and the cookie-preferences controls, including visible focus styles.
- Text and interface colours chosen for readable contrast against their backgrounds.
- Content that reflows responsively down to small and zoomed viewports.
- Accessible accordions and dialogs that can be opened, closed, and dismissed with the keyboard (including the Escape key).
- Accessibility considered as part of our ongoing design and review process.
3. Known limitations
We’re being transparent about areas we’re still improving:
- Chart trends at a glance. The glucose chart is now keyboard-operable and announces individual readings as you move through them, but the overall shape of a trend is still easier to perceive visually. Clinical metrics such as Time in Range are also provided as text in a table.
- Screen-reader testing. We test with automated tooling and keyboard interaction; broader testing across every screen reader and browser combination is ongoing.
- Third-party content. Some research links point to external sites whose accessibility we do not control.
4. Compatibility
The Platform is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge) and their built-in or commonly used assistive technologies. Using an up-to-date browser and assistive technology gives the best experience.
5. Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, or need information from the Platform in a different format, please tell us — your feedback helps us prioritize fixes. Contact us at accessibility@cgm-platform.local, through our Contact page, or via your hospital administrator. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
6. Assessment and ongoing work
We evaluate accessibility through a combination of automated testing (using the axe accessibility engine against WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules) and manual review during development. Accessibility is an ongoing effort: as we add and refine features, we continue to test and improve, and we update this statement to reflect meaningful changes.
This Platform is for educational and demonstration purposes only and is not a medical device. If an accessibility issue prevents you from completing a task, please reach out using the details above. See also our Privacy Policy.
